The refusal to accept defeat has been both my strength and my weakness. An inability to accept anything but success can be a curse, indeed. I have survived because of it, and I have bled because of it. Yet, knowing when to hold on and when to let go has been a challenge at times.

Some things in life are beyond our control and must remain so. Accepting that truth has been a lifelong battle, a quiet enemy I still meet on rare occasions.

By His grace, God has set a path for me, one different from the road I had once imagined. It is a better path, for who can know where the other would have led? But for a soul that longs for answers and seeks meaning, the silence as to why some things are as they are can be deafening.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

Blessings come in many forms—often unseen until they are lost or never gained. I look at others and wonder if they realize what they have been given. Like the air we breathe, God’s gifts are easy to take for granted.

I have learned that to sacrifice for others is the greatest lesson of all. Giving such blessings is the mastery of love in a loveless world. It is what separates the righteous from the unrighteous. Sacrifice is the highest act of love.

To carry a burden for others may be the greatest sacrifice of all, the truest exercise of humility a soul can offer. Failing so that others might succeed is a blessing in itself. To be humbled but not defeated is the road to eternity.

What seemed like an apparent defeat on the Cross was, in truth, the ultimate victory. For our God has set a plan before each of us, and that plan—if fulfilled—is never failure but a triumph of character.

The greatest blessing of all is life itself. I believe our souls were placed in this world by the Creator to give, to serve, and to sacrifice—sometimes at great loss to ourselves.

This refines us and makes us fit for the Kingdom.

And His will be done.

“That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7
